2010 “Cape Town and Beyond: Your Guide to the Cape’s Finest”
Carole was commissioned to research and write the editorial for this beautiful, glossy 52-page special souvenir supplement which was published in the Cape Times, Cape Argus and Weekend Argus in June 2010 to tie in with the 2010 Soccer World Cup. Many of the photographs featured in the supplement were taken by Carole.

2010 Cape Times Emergence Series
Labelled a “visionary article” by John Battersby, UK Country Manager, International Marketing Council of South Africa and Custodian of Brand South Africa, and “most impressive” by Ian Goldin, Director of the 21st Century School at Oxford University, the Inaugural Feature in this series, published in March 2010, examined two overarching themes and five global meta-trends that are set to revolutionise the way we work and do business in these postmodern times.
This feature was the result of an extraordinary portal of information that opened for Carole at the end of 2009 with her attendance at the DIVERSITAS 2nd Open Science Conference and the UNEP Financial Initiative Global Round Table, both international events which featured worldclass thought leadership. Further features in the Cape Times Emergence Series will focus on emerging trends in the Built Environment, Technology, Health, Communication, Science and Education, Arts and Culture etc. This Series is set to become a significant “knowledge ecosystem” - contributing towards the competitive intelligence and intellectual capacity of the Western Cape, and beyond that South Africa.

“Bridging Waters” - a GTZ-SADC Transboundary Water Management Documentary Series
In February 2009 Carole was commissioned to research and write scripts for this four-part documentary series, which comprises four 25-minute documentaries filmed in a high-definition format:
Documentary One - “Co-operation not Conflict - Sharing Water and Benefits” - Kunene River
Documentary Two - “Prosperity not Penury - Alleviating Poverty” - Orange-Senqu River
Documentary Three - “Development not Disaster - Combating Disasters” - Zambezi River
Documentary Four - “Integration not Exclusion - Building the Future” - Limpopo River
Independent Newspapers
Carole’s print media speciality is the big, prestigious, researched feature and as such she has written profiles on South Africa’s most eminent personages, notably the late international industrialist Dr Anton Rupert, past President Nelson Mandela, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu and past President Thabo Mbeki , which were published across all major Independent Newspapers’ titles (combined readership 1 433 000 - AMPS 2006) (please see pdfs on past Presidents Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki as examples).
Her work comprises a strong social responsibility component as seen in a double-broadsheet Wall Chart and Resource Guide on Drug Awareness for the Cape Argus published in July 2006.
It also focuses on environmental and sustainability issues as seen in her 2007/2008 Cape Argus Sustainability Series (readership 336 000 - AMPS 2007), a series which she conceptualised, researched, wrote and coordinated.
Because of the outstanding response to the Cape Argus Sustainability Series, with five features going to 14 broadsheets, the Sustainability Series was transferred to the Cape Times in 2009.

Expo Zaragoza 2008
In April 2008 Carole was commissioned to conceptualise, research and write all the different media for the South African Pavilion for Expo Zaragoza 2008, an international water expo held in Zaragoza, Spain, from 14 June to 14 September 2008, which was dubbed the “biggest water festival on Earth”, at which 106 countries exhibited with 140 pavilions - please see www.zaragozaexpo2008.com .
South Africa, via the then Department of Water Affairs and Forestry (DWAF) and Kagiso Exhibitions, pulled out all stops with a South African Pavilion of exceptional creativity and excellence - please see www.kagisoexpoct.co.za/zaraimages which shows the Pavilion during its construction phase.
The project proved to be an extremely challenging but fascinating commission due to the tight deadlines and the extent of the work which included three timelines, concepts and copy for nine huge backlit panels, a comprehensive touch screen system, a website and various print media. The website for the South African Pavilion is http://www.southafricapavilion2008.co.za/
